A breaker that trips once while you are running a space heater is annoying. A breaker that trips every time the microwave starts, the AC kicks on, or a certain outlet is used is your electrical system telling you to stop and pay attention. So, why do circuit breakers trip? They trip to cut power before heat, damaged wiring, or equipment failure can become a shock or fire hazard.
The breaker is doing its job. Resetting it without finding the cause can turn a safety device into a temporary inconvenience, and that is when small electrical problems become expensive ones.

A loose connection or damaged wiring

Do not remove your panel cover, touch exposed wiring, force a breaker to stay on, or keep resetting a breaker that immediately trips. Also avoid using larger breakers as a workaround. A breaker must match the wire size and circuit design. Installing an oversized breaker can allow wiring to overheat before protection trips.
